The essays can be read in any order. A room leads to a chair; a bowl leads to a habit; an unfinished conversation leads to the table that held it. Each begins with something familiar.

This first issue keeps its attention on ordinary use. The objects are not presented as trophies, and the rooms do not need to be exceptional. We are interested in what we notice when we look again at something familiar.
