A palette can
hold the idea together.
Start with a few colours and the way you want the arrangement to sit in its setting.
Soft colour.
A darker note.
Room for green.
Pale flowers can sit beside deeper shades, with green foliage between them. Choose soft, closely matched colours or a stronger contrast.
The setting
Look at what is already there.
A tablecloth, wall colour or vessel can be part of the conversation. The flowers do not need to match every detail; they need to make sense beside it.
The studio works from the broad direction and composition. A palette is not a promise that a particular variety or exact stem will be available.
The shape
Colour is only part of it.
Height, movement and the space between stems change how an arrangement feels. A looser hand-tied bunch and a lower table composition can share colours while doing different jobs.
Compare the compositions
