Materials are arranged so children can see what is available and bring work to a table or rug.

A work period makes space for children to choose, repeat, and continue with a piece of work.

The adult introduces materials and observes how children use the environment. A short lesson can sit alongside independent or shared work.

Children share the room across an age range, with different interests and work happening alongside each other.
