Boat handling

More practice.
More feel for the boat.

For adults with some time aboard who want repeated practice at the helm and a better understanding of sail adjustment.

What the session covers

Steering

Work on holding a course and making deliberate changes while observing the boat’s response.

Sail adjustment

Practise the relationship between the chosen course, the sails and the boat’s movement under instruction.

Changing direction

Repeat course changes with agreed roles and clear communication before each attempt.

Reviewing the attempt

Compare what you intended with what happened, then repeat the task with a specific adjustment.

The water sets part of the plan.

The instructor decides which exercises suit the conditions and the crew. The outline describes the learning focus; it is not a promise that every task will be completed in one session.
