The boat & crew
A small crew.
A shared task.
The boat is a place to practise. Knowing where things are, who is doing what and how to move aboard comes before the sailing exercises.
The helm
The steering position connects what you do with how the boat moves. You take a turn under instruction and return to the task during practice.
The sail controls
Lines are introduced by their job as you use them. The instructor explains the relevant controls before asking you to handle them.
The crew
One person’s task affects the others. Listening, agreed calls and waiting for the crew to be ready are practised alongside boat handling.
