A little care between wears.
Different materials need different care. Keep each piece protected between wears, and ask a jeweler about cleaning and inspection for its stones, metal and setting.
Give each piece its own space.
Use a soft pouch or a lined compartment so pieces do not rub together. Keep chains apart from other jewelry, and pad pieces separately when traveling. Pearls should be kept away from sharp surfaces and very hot, dry storage.
Be gentle with pearls.
After wearing a pearl piece such as Orbit, gently wipe the pearl with a soft cloth. Avoid direct contact with perfume, hairspray and household cleaning products. Ask a jeweler about any cleaning beyond a light wipe.
Ask about the whole setting.
A sapphire’s care can depend on its treatment, and a piece also includes its metal and settings. For Tide, ask for guidance covering the sapphire, shoulder diamonds and gold together. Do not assume a cleaner suited to one stone is right for the whole ring.
Notice what has changed.
If a clasp feels different, a setting catches or a stone seems loose, set the piece aside and ask a jeweler to inspect it. Discuss an inspection routine that suits the piece and how often you wear it.
